June 13th Logo Contest

Attention all Laughingbird forum members!

Back by popular demand -- a logo design contest for all Laughingbird software users.
...And this time, the members will help in deciding the winner!!

Contest submissions begin date: Wednesday, June 13 at 6:00 am (U.S. Eastern Standard Time).
Contest submissions end date: Monday, June 18th at 6:00 pm (U.S. Eastern Standard Time).



How the voting will take place:

The Laughingbird forum Mods will vote for the Top 10 best submissions. Then a separate thread with a poll for the Top 10 will be placed on the board for all of our members to vote for the Best of the Best.

Official member voting will begin on Wednesday, June 20th. You can vote for your top choice and cannot vote for yourself. (We'll have an eye on you. :)) The winner will be announced on Friday, June 22nd.



Contest Details:

You'll be creating a logo for a fictional company.

Fictional Company: CreativeConcepts (one word)
This is an online magazine. What the magazine IS is up to you. Come up with your own slogan!

Logo size: 560x420 pixels is the largest the logo can be.
(watch this spec! If you create your logo too big, it may not make the final 10 cut!)




The Prize:

The winner will receive a Laughingbird Product of choice!! Yep, that's right. Your choice of any of the great Laughingbird Software products -
The Logo Creator (http://www.thelogocreator.com/), The Web Graphics Creator (http://www.webgraphicscreator.com/), The Ad Creator (http://www.flashadcreator.com/) or The Corporate Identity Creator (http://www.cicreator.com/). (excluding the MegaPak Logo Collection)




Contest rules:

1. No admin or mods can enter.
2. You must own a Laughingbird Product, and be a registered member of the Laughingbird software forum.
3. All work has to be done with a Laughingbird Software product. No outside programs, no outside CLIPART, and to satisfy the many requests from our members, feel free to use any of your system fonts on this contest. We want to really open up your creative side!
4. You may submit up to 3 (three) entries into the contest.
5. Entries need to be uploaded here in this thread.
6. The winner may have to submit their final .tlc file to digger2125 (http://www.logodesignforum.com/forums/members/digger2125.html) for viewing to verify that it is 100% TLC. (if requested)
7. The winner will be chosen by the admin/mods & members. Note voting instructions above.
8. If anyone copies another user’s idea we will go with the one that had the first entry, the other will be voided (or sent to Bird Cage ... just because we like to see everybody's work).


Rights:
By entering your submission, you agree that Laughingbird Software can use your entry for any publicity and marketing purposes worldwide, indefinitely. This might include publication in ‘traditional’ media or online. You will retain copyright to your entry, so you are perfectly free to enter it into other contest, publish it, or sell it

**No feedback will be given on the designs.
**Any post that does not pertain to the contest will be moved to the Bird Cage to keep the thread clean and easy to follow.


The Winner will be announced on June 22th, 2007 here in the forum!

Once again, this is a great way to kick start your creativity, showcase your talent & improve your design skills -- not to mention having the opportunity to get your hands around a great piece of software for free.

Actually, it does say *(one word) right behind the name.

So, now you've placed us in an situation --- do we be nice and let everyone that used two words to resubmit and make them happy. That would be great for them, wouldn't it?

But, what about those that have followed the guidelines and have posted accordingly. They think the ones that didn't follow the guidelines are out of contention. Allowing resubmittals might make them mad.

So, to be fair and upfront, we're going to stick with the guidelines at hand. One word it is.

If this customer would have arrived at your doorstep, would you have told them to change their name so that it would easier for you to create a design? I would hope not.

There are some great designs following the guidelines. Have fun with this and be creative. There are ways to be creative to make the one word look like two.

Don't worry about this contest if you didn't follow the guidelines this time, we' re going to have some more fun next month. Just be sure to read things the way they are written and if you need clarification, just ask.

It all just depends on whether or not you upload them here or are hosting them somewhere else and using the insert image function. Uploading them creates a thumbnail.

Hi Guys,
I too was having troubles with the sizes, there is a simple solution tho, instead of exporting your designs as jpegs, export them as Gifs instead. Thats all there is to it.

Another little trick to eliminate problems with sizes that the forum will allow you to upload is to store your images on a free online service. I personally like Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com), but I know some use imageShack.com - Your Photo and Imaging Portal (http://www.imageshack.com). And, I'm sure there are tons of other places. Then, all you have to do is use the image link and copy your images url code.
