Need ideas for a Logo

I am supposed to be working on a Logo for my brothers Drywall Company. He mainly does designer ceiling and wall work. He wants his new Logo to be simple and unique. I am in desperate need of new fresh Ideas. Any help or suggestions would be graetly appreciated.

What about some text across a putty knife? I'm still learning how to play with the text on this prg....

Perhaps turn this graphic so the handle is on the top and then run the text across the blade of the knife.... (what do you think?)

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I am looking for something with shapes and lines rather than realistic images or maybe something cartoony?????
I don't know for sure? Below is what have have done so far, and I have to admit it's not very creative.

I like the first one but I would lose the orb and the swoosh.
