Although it only starts TLC and doesn't open the particular .tlc file, still it's a step in the right direction ...
Jeff Geerling just sent me an email with the solution to opening .tlc files without having to open the TLC program first!:banana Here's how:

Click on the file in the Finder, then choose "File" menu>"Get Info", you can click on the little triangle next to "Open With:" to expand this section. Next, click on the little popup menu and choose the application to open the file with (or choose "Other..." and select the application if it doesn't appear in the list). Now, click the "Change All..." button to make all files with this extension open in the application you chose.

Note- The first time I tried this, I couldn't get anything to "light up" the Add button, and then I noticed up above the option:Enable recommended applications. Click on this and choose all applications, now when you choose The Logo Creator the Add button will be usable. Choose it, and then continue with Jeff's instructions.

Have fun!

I originally posted this in response to a question in the Logo Creator Forum. Denhom thought it was worthy of it's own thread. Thanks for the suggestion denhom! :)
